My quick take on Ethic regulations and lawyer marketing on the Web.

by Fred Abramson on November 1, 2010

Many lawyers speak out against more ethics regulations on lawyer marketing on the Web — http://bit.ly/aiuXtm

The American Bar Associations seeks to stiffle legal innovation and maintain the status quo yet again. This time, they seek to muzzle bloggers and lawyers’ use of social media.

The ABA simply repesents the interests of BigLaw. Whenever there is an opportunty for small law firms to get a leg up, they create regulations in the name of the consumer to maintain their economic interests.

The one area that needs more regulation on the web (and elsewhere) are personal injury lawyers. It is odious how some firms ambulance chase online by  “reporting” about local accidents in the hope that the victim would retain them.

What do you think?
