The Latest Twitter Tips for Lawyers (and anyone else)

by Fred Abramson on March 23, 2009

1.     Lawyers are using Twitter to promote their legal services. My top pick of the week is this post entitled “Practice and the Law Of Reciprocity. This article specifically addresses the “social for business” use for those of us who use Twitter as a promotional tool for any reason.    The simple way to describe the Law of Reciprocity is to equate it to the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The big takeaway here is that on Twitter you need to show an interest in others. In her words:

Reactively and Proactively making conversation in others will increase your visibility more than direct promotion ever will. People will see other people talking to you and you’ll gain followers and create goodwill in the community.”

2. @22twts presents lawyer Twitterviews. On tap for Tuesday is Green Bay, Wisconsin attorney Ben Qualley. On Thursday, none other than yours truly, @fredabramson will be answering 22 questions.

3.     A big trend for lawyers this week is adding their twitter information to Wefollow. Wefollow bills itself as “A User Powered Twitter Directory.” It remains to be seen how this directory will stack up against other directories such as Twellow.

4.     Donna Maira @indiebusiness posted 7 Fun Ways to Expand your Circle. To become more influential, it is vital for lawyers to expand their social network.

5.     If you want to get the maximum benefit out of the content that you create on Twitter and promote your profile to the entire world, it’s time to start promoting your static Twitter pages.  Twitterpowersystem tells you how.
